I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and had to drop $30 for iWork because it wasn't free for me. I dont know whether docs produced by iWork. iWork apps have been free to download from the app store for many years now, so its not obvious what use one of the old dvds would be to anyone. This is fantastic news for people still running older Macs, iPhones, and iPads. iWork is multilingual and the same everywhere, but whether the very ancient 09 version can be installed and used on your machine is a different question.
